Vaclav Smil
International reference in energy and environment.
Vaclav Smil is internationally recognised for his interdisciplinary research in the areas of energy and environment, demography, food production, and the history of innovation. Professor Emeritus at the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, he is a member of the Royal Society of Canada, and recipient of the Order of Canada. In 2010, he was named as one of the world’s top hundred thinkers by the American magazine Foreign Policy. He has published more than forty books and numerous scientific articles. Among his recent publications are Size: How It Explains the World (Viking 2023 – in Spanish, El tamaño de las cosas.
