Zoltán Kövecses
Zoltán Kövecses is Professor of Linguistics in the Department of American Studies at Eötvös Loránd University (Budapest) and author of Metaphor in Culture: Universality and Variation (Cambridge University Press, 2005). His principal field of research includes the conceptualization of emotions, the study of idiomaticity and cross-cultural variation in metaphor. In 2003, he extended his research into metaphor at the University of California at Berkeley together with Georges Lakoff. He is currently working on the conceptualization of emotions and the relation between language, mind, and culture from a cognitive linguistic perspective. He has been visiting lecturer at various universities in the US and Europe. His most important books are Emotion Concepts (Springer-Verlag, 1990), Metaphor: a Practical Introduction (Oxford University Press, 2002), and Language, Mind, and Culture. An Introduction (Oxford University Press, 2006).
