Yolanda Melero is Doctor of Biology (University of Barcelona). She is currently a researcher at the CREAF and Serra Húnter Lecturer at the University of Barcelona.

Trained in behavioural biology, she has specialized in how animal populations respond to environmental changes. She is currently studying the effect of urban environments on taxonomic and functional biodiversity with a citizen science project on urban butterflies, and how both species and cities could change to improve biodiversity. She is also working on the role of climate change in the dynamics of animal populations and their adaptations, at the University of Reading.
