Yolanda Domínguez
Artist specialized in Communication and Gender
An artist specialising in communication and gender, she works by creating actions that create relationships between people, and that generate communities appearing from interaction with a conflict. Her projects have dealt with social themes related with gender and consumption. Some examples of this work are Poses, Registro, Accesorias y accessibles, Niños vs. Moda, and her numerous exhibitions in museums around the world, including the Elga Wimmer Gallery of New York, the Open Systems in Vienna, and the Rojo Artspace in Milan. She has been awarded a Spanish Ministry of Culture grant for the Promotion of Spanish Art and, in 2014, together with the daily The Guardian, she received a Special Mention in the Freedom of Expression awards. At present, she combines her artistic activity with journalism and educational endeavours in which she works with several universities and media outlets like Huffington Post Spain, where she writes a weekly column on representation of women in the mass media.
