Stefano Padulosi
Senior scientist at Biodiversity International, an agency member of the consortium Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR).
With a PhD in Biology from the University of Leuven (Belgium), he has worked since the outset of his career in the field of agricultural biodiversity. Between 1987 and 1993 he was an explorer and plant taxonomist for the genebank of the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture. After 1993 he worked for the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) on a project of recovering Mediterranean crops. He has been working for Biodiversity International since 1998, coordinating its activities in the regions of Central and Western Asia and North Africa, and has also led the project “Enhancing the contribution of agricultural biodiversity to human wellbeing”. Since 2012, he has been director of the Marketing Diversity programme. He is presently coordinating a United Nations-funded project in Bolivia, Nepal and India, testing new methods of documenting agricultural biodiversity.
