Slawomir Sierakowski

Founder and editor of the review Krytyka Polityczna

The founder and editor of the review Krytyka Polityczna (Political Critique) and of a publishing house of the same name, he was born in 1979. He is the leading figure of Krytyka Polityczna (Political Critique), which represents the widest circle of left-wing intellectuals and activists in Poland. The activities of the group, named after the review of which Sierakowski is the founding director, includes a publishing house and the Nowy Wspaniały Świat (Brave New World) Community Centre, a network of local groups. A sociologist and political scientist, Sierakowski has written essays and articles on Polish and European politics and culture and these have been published in several languages. He has taught sociology and philosophy at the University of Warsaw and has been guest speaker at universities and scientific centres in Europe and the United States, including Columbia University (New York) and the Sorbonne (Paris).
