Sílvia Omedes

Director of the Photographic Social Vision Foundation

With a degree in Fine Arts from the New School for Social Research in New York and a master’s degree in Management Functions from ESADE (Barcelona), she is a cultural manager, freelance curator, photography agent, editor, and lecturer in Documentary Photography, as well as being director of the Photographic Social Vision foundation since 2001. She has worked at the Guggenheim in New York, at the CCCB, and for the World Press Photo Foundation in Amsterdam as secretary for the jury in the 2018 awards. As a nominator of young talent, she works with the Albert Camus Incipiens Award, the Leica Oscar Barnack Award, and the Joop Swart Masterclass fellowship. She has been a jury member for the Poy Latam, Luís Valtueña, FNAC Young Talent, and Luis Kasado prizes. Moreover, she represents photographic archives of national authors, among them those of the first woman photojournalist Joana Biarnés, the French photographer Jacques Léonard, Isabel Azkarate, Mey Rahola, and Oriol Maspons. Since 2014, she has been a member of the Committee of Experts working with the National Photography Plan of the Generalitat (Government) of Catalonia.
