Roxane Gay

Writer, lecturer, speaker and editor

Sometimes Roxane Gay (Nebraska, 1974) doesn’t know “what’s worse: being a woman or being black”. Feminist writer, lecturer, speaker and editor (founder of Tiny Hardcore Press), she became known thanks to her biting texts about race, gender, identity and sexuality in publications like The New York Times. She has written various titles and books, and in 2016 Capitán Swing published in Spain her success Bad Feminist (2014), with articles about new feminism, in which Gay admits that she didn’t always perfectly meet the requisites of the feminist movement—which is a way of meeting them better than anyone.

Bio written by Kiko Amat/Miqui Otero, directors of Primera Persona festival.
