Roberto Casati

Philosopher, thinker and research director at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique in Paris

A specialist in the philosophy of perception and the author of a vast body of academic and educational works, he has taught in several universities in Europe and the United States. Notable among his books translated into Spanish are El descubrimiento de la sombra (Debate, 2001 – published in English as The Discovery of Shadow), which received the Fiesole Prize for writers of under forty, the Castiglioncello Award, and also the Si Livre Science Prize; 39 (simples) cuentos filosóficos (Alianza Editorial, 2007 – published in English as Insurmountable Simplicities; Thirty-nine Philosophical Conundrums), co-authored by Achille Varzi; 12 accidentes metafísicos (Alianza Editorial, 2009); and Elogio del papel: contra el colonialismo digital (Ariel, 2015), in which he champions reading in the paper format as well as discussing the most harmful effects of digital culture.
