Robert Trivers
Professor of Anthropology and Biological Sciences at Rutgers University, of Paediatrics at UMDNJ and of Psychology at the University of Harvard.
A history graduate, he gained a PhD in Biology from the University of Harvard. His research focuses on social theory based on natural selection (where his theory of self-deception is born) and on the biology of selfish genetic elements. His analysis on reciprocal altruism, parental investment, sexual selection, parent-offspring conflict, sex ratios and deceit and self-deception are constant references in scientific literature.
Highlights amongst his books include: Social Evolution (1985); Deceit and self-deception (1991); Natural Selection and Social Theory (2002) and Genes in Conflict: The Biology of Selfish Genetic Elements (2005).
He is considered by Time magazine to be one of the one hundred most important thinkers and scientists of the 20th century. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
