Raquel Huete

Professor of Sociology at the University of Alicante, Raquel Huete specialises in sociology of tourism. Her main areas of research include accessible tourism, employment in the tourist sector, public opinion on tourism, and the relationship between tourism and other processes of international mobility. She heads the research group on Sustainable Planning and Management of Tourism and is co-editor of the periodical publication Investigaciones Turísticas. Before joining the University of Alicante, she worked in tourist agencies, with tour operators, and foundations devoted to management of higher education. She has occupied positions in university management and was Director-General of Tourism in the Generalitat (Government) of Valencia. She is currently working on projects with several institutions, among them ISTO-International Social Tourism Organisation.
