Piera Riccio

Piera Riccio is a PhD student at ELLIS Alicante, the first Spanish unit within the ELLIS pan-European network (European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems). She holds a bachelor’s degree in Cinema and Media Engineering, a master’s degree in ICT for Smart Societies, and a master’s degree in Data Science and Engineering. She is presently studying how artificial intelligence can influence the representation and understanding of bodies in visual arts by means of beautifying filters and algorithmic censoring mechanisms, and with a specific focus on women and diversity. Moreover, she explores the cultural, social, and artistic possibilities of AI, and has exhibited her work in several different venues around Europe.
