Philipp Blom
He is a historian and author of several successful essays. He also works as a radio presenter, documentary filmmaker and lecturer. Among his most relevant works, all published by Anagrama, are The Vertigo Years (2010) and Fracture (2016), which deal with the cultural history of the early 20th century; Encyclopédie: El triunfo de la razón en tiempos irracionales (2007) on the Enlightenment; Nature's Mutiny (2019), an investigation into history and climate change in the 17th century; and, most recently, Lo que está en juego (2021), which addresses the relationship between climate change, digitization, and democracy. Blom's work has received numerous accolades. He has been recognized with several international awards (Terenci Moix Prize in Barcelona, Groene Waterman Prijs in Antwerp, NDR Kultur Buchpreis in Wolfenbüttel, among others), and his books have been translated into sixteen languages. In 2018 he opened the prestigious Salzburg Festspiele with a widely commented speech on the future of the Enlightenment.
