Doctor in History by the University of the Havana.
He is director of the Museum of the City and the Office of the Historian, from 1968. At 1981 has been in charged to the restoration of the historical center of Havana, declared world-wide patrimony by UNESCO. He is adviser of the Congress of Integración Cultural Latin American (CICLA) and delegated the National Assembly. It has published, among others, "La Habana, ciudad antigua" (Letras Cubanas, La Havana 1988), "Detén el paso caminante" (Letras Cubanas, La Havana 1988) i "Regresar en el tiempo" (Letras Cubanas, La Havana 1986).
