Papa Orbe y los Turpiales Sabaneros

Orbe Ortiz trained as a multi-instrumentalist and producer in his native Cuba and has worked for much of his career in Colombia. After many years living and playing in Barcelona in different groups, he now heads this prodigious orchestra made up of ten Colombian musicians based in the city. Their live performance is an irresistible outpouring of Colombian Caribbean rhythms: cumbia, porro, gaita… “No border can stop the healing and socializing power of this music”, they tell us. And they prove it with conga, drums, tiple, bass, maracas, guitar, saxophone, clarinet… and the odd surprise. Los Turpiales Sabaneros are Barcelona’s best kept secret.
