Núria Almiron

Núria Almiron is a tenured lecturer in the Department of Communication at the Pompeu Fabra University of Barcelona (UPF) and co-director of the UPF-Centre for Animal Ethics. Her main areas of research include and combine ethics and the political economy of communication, interest groups, critical studies on animals, and climate change. She has published papers in several academic reviews including Journalism Studies, Environmental Communication, European Journal of Communication, International Journal of Communication, International Communication Gazette, Triple-C, and American Behavioral Scientist. She has written and edited several books, among them the recent work Critical Animal and Media Studies (Routledge, 2016, with Matthew Cole and Carrie P. Freeman). She has been a guest researcher at the University of Amsterdam, Université Paris 8, the London School of Economics and Political Science, the University of Westminster, and the University of Manchester, as well as being a guest lecturer at Heidelberg University, Lund University, Linnaeus University, and others. She is presently director of the MA in International Studies on Media, Power, and Difference and also of the research project THINKClima besides being a member of the CRITICC research group at the UPF.
