Noel B. Salazar
Noel B. Salazar is full professor in Social and Cultural Anthropology at the Faculty of Social Sciences, KU Leuven in Belgium, where he founded the Cultural Mobilities Research (CuMoRe) cluster. Salazar holds a PhD in Anthropology from the University of Pennsylvania. His main research interests include anthropologies of mobility and travel, discourses and imaginaries of Otherness, heritage and interpretation, cultural brokering, cosmopolitanism, and endurance locomotion. He is author of Envisioning Eden: Mobilizing Imaginaries in Tourism and Beyond (Berghahn Books, 2010), where his critical analysis of the circulation and dynamics of tourism imaginaries is illustrated with ethnographic data from Yogyakarta (Indonesia) and Arusha (Tanzania). He sits on various editorial boards and is co-chair of the IUAES Commission on the Anthropology of Tourism, an official consultant for UNESCO, UNWTO, and EU.
