Mireia Casanyes

Mireia Casanyes, a poet and researcher, and graduate in Literary Studies and German Language and Literature, has published the poetry collection L’ombra forana (The Foreign Shadow, Edicions Món de llibres, 2021 – winner of the City of Manacor Miquel Àngel Riera Poetry Prize) in which the lyrical self is that of a plant-woman brimming with memories and synaesthesiae. Her work has also been published in the anthology No One Is an Island (Haus für Poesie, 2023) and she has participated at the Berlin Poesiefestival. Her career is notable for her interest in a combination of poetry and the plastic arts. Both her work and research are greatly influenced by German avant-garde authors and artists, with whom she shares a special interest in the gaze through which they understand the body and language. She is presently writing her thesis at the Freie Universität Berlin and the University of Barcelona. With the poet Carla Marco, she is a member of the artistic and performance duo Col·lectiu Alum. She is also author of the Epilogue of Primavera fosca (in English, Dark Spring) by Unica Zürn (Wunderkammer, 2022) and has published in the magazine Reduccions (Eumo Editorial, 2024). Al bosc de vidre (Viena Edicions, 2025), awarded the 50th Martí Dot Poetry Prize, will be published soon.

Mireia Casanyes is part of the poetic residency programme Magmas within Radical Science project.
