Masbedo

A collective formed by Nicolò Massazza (Milan, 1973) and Jacopo Bedogni (Sarzana, 1970). In 1999 it began its artistic quest with the aim of integrating new technologies into the world of art. The result is a research work that uses different media for expression, including photography, music, theatre and video.

Their reflections regarding human incommunication and the meaning of existence bring them to join up with writer Michel Houellebecq, with whom they have been working since 2002. The audiovisual installation 11.22.03, presented for the first time at ARCO and based on an essay by the author, is one of those joint works which have managed to capture the attention of critics and public alike. Focusing on the affective incommunication of the contemporary human being, the exhibition Staying Alive is a compilation of works by Masbedo and Houellebecq.
