Mariona Moranta

Performer, choreographer

Mariona Moranta (2000) is a performer who uses the possibilities of her body as her main tool, either in individual productions or in collaborations and co-creations with other artists. The foundation of her training is classical dance, but she has also explored contemporary dance and performance with the aim of expanding her versatility. She is currently finishing further studies in Choreography and Performance at the Institut del Teatre.

Throughout her career as a dancer, she has worked mainly with the choreographer Candela Capitán in pieces such as SOLAS (2023), performed at festivals including Manifesto at the Espace Niemeyer in Paris, and in The Death at the Club and Moloko Vellocet, performed at the MNAC as part of the Festival Grec. She has also participated in the performance Celda Sonora (2024), presented at La Casa Encendida in Madrid, and in the piece MODELS, a collaboration between Capitán and the sound artist Lee Gamble, which has been presented at the Barbican in London and at festivals such as Unsound in Krakow and Sónar 2024 in Barcelona.

She has also worked with the choreographer Ester Guntín in the performance Terra Rhapsody, premiered in 2022 at the CCCB as part of the Humans season. She has worked with stage director Marta Pazos on the children’s piece Toy Box, in collaboration with the OBC. Furthermore, and discovering a new way of putting her body at the service of dance, she was a dancer on the Rigoberta Bandini tour and is currently working with the emerging artist Ouineta23.
