Marcelo Brodsky

Artist and activist. He is considered one of the most relevant authors who work on the recovery of private memory and its intersection with collective histories. His work is based on the refiguration of the image: Brodsky takes as starting point archival images of historical events, which he resignifies and updates by incorporating texts and strokes of color, thereby extending their meanings. His works generally are part of conceptual essays on an event or topic. He is an active member of the human rights organization Asociación Buena Memoria and of the board of directors of the Parque de la Memoria de Buenos Aires, dedicated to the victims of state terrorism. His works have been exhibited in prestigious institutions such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes in Buenos Aires, the Pinacoteca del Estado de São Paulo, the Museo del Banco de la República in Bogotá and the Foto Colectania Foundation in Barcelona, among many others.
