Lola Clavo

Filmmaker

Lola Clavo (Barcelona, 1983) is a filmmaker, teacher and intimacy coordinator. She graduated in Film Direction from ESCAC (2006) and received a fellowship from “la Caixa” Foundation to study an MA in Filmmaking at Goldsmiths, University of London (2012), where she lived for 10 years.

Clavo is a filmmaker whose work moves strongly along the boundaries between fiction, documentary and experimental, art and pornography, the collective and the authorial. As themes, she’s particularly interested in representations of sexuality, the body, femininity and notions of work and productivity. She approaches audiovisual production from a queer and DIY philosophy and has formed part of various collectives such as Exotica Loom and, more recently, Col·lectiu 1080. She runs a workshop on Directing Intimate Scenes as part of the Master in Film Direction at ESCAC, is the coordinator of the training course in Intimacy Coordination for the Fast Forward course in Audiovisuals and Stage Arts at ESCAC, and has led the intimacy coordination department of many different projects, including La Mesías (Movistar+), Yo, adicto (Disney+), the theatrical adaptation of Teoría King Kong (La Virgueria) and Nudes (3Cat). After two feature-length documentaries and numerous short films, she’s currently developing her first feature-length fiction film.
