Leo Espluga
Philosopher
Leo Espluga is a philosopher who explores how theory can intersect with real life, investigating how the most abstract ideas can become palpable and transformative. Through his YouTube channel, he has attracted a diverse audience to take an interest in authors such as Hegel and Zambrano, and on social media he discusses and analyses the works of great thinkers to his tens of thousands of followers.
Although he deals with a range of topics, the relationship between thought and emotion is always present, with a philosophical approach focused on feeling the theory and letting it infuse out lives. Espluga creates spaces where philosophy becomes an experience, inviting us to reflect on how ideas shape our perception of the world.
In projects such as Filosofia Millenial (even through he’s generation Z) on Ràdio Estel, he challenges the boundaries between popular and academic philosophy, encouraging a dialogue between everyday life and critical thinking. He is also a contributor to the iCat programme Els Experts, where he brings philosophy to a wider audience.
Leo Espluga has also explored the relationship between philosophy and theatre as writer and director of the monologue Tremolor, which was performed at La Gleva theatre, in which he creates a space beyond identity to explore the friction with the indifference and silence of the gods.
Conceptually, Espluga’s work is a continuous exploration of how philosophy can become a driving force for personal and collective change. He has participated in series of conferences such as El oído extendido, organised by the University of Zaragoza, the series Mátame tú vista y hermosura at the CENDEAC, and the Asalto International Urban Art Festival, where he talked about issues such as the aesthetic experience in music, desire and flesh, and spaces and utility.
His approach to philosophical thought is not only theoretical, but also visceral, as he seeks to produce a physical and emotional response in his listeners.
