Laura Sam
Oral poet with a highly personal voice and one of the country’s foremost slammers
Laura Soto Sobejano, known as Laura Sam, is a multidisciplinary artist from Múrcia. Although her training is in the visual arts, she has been working mostly in the domain of written and oral poetry since 2014. She is founder and organiser of Spoken Word Bilbao and has taken part in national and international festivals that bring visibility to the discipline, as well as giving poetic expression workshops in leading cultural centres around Spain. She has published two books: Incendiaria (Incendiary, Arrebato Libros, 2019) and Géise (Geisha, Ya lo dijo Casimiro Parker, 2020). In 2021, together with Juan Escribano, she embarked on a musical project that combines poetry and rap.
Laura Sam’s career has led her to work with several other artists including, recently, Derek V. Bulcke and Abraham Boba in their singles. She has also been a guest artist in several shows of the rapper Kase.O, support for the singer Nacho Vegas, and has participated in several of Spain’s big music festivals.
