Laura Balbo

President of the “Italia-Razzismo” association and of the International Association for the Study of Racism, she is Professor of Sociology at Ferrara University (Italy). She has been a member of the Italian Parliament and, from 1998 to 2000, was Minister of Equal Opportunities. As a member of different international research groups, she has worked on several studies concerned with ethnicisation processes in European society. She has been president of the Italian Sociological Association, and also an adviser to the WHO and UNESCO. She frequently writes in different publications of the Italian and European media. Notable amongst her books is In che razza di società vivremo? L’Europa, i razzismi, il futuro (Bruno Mondadori, 2006).
