Karima Ziali
Philosopher and writer
With a degree in Philosophy from the University of Barcelona and a master’s degree in Anthropological Research from UNED (National University of Distance Education), Karima Ziali is a writer and researcher specialising in sexuality, Islam, and migration. She was born in Morocco and her family settled in Catalonia when she was three years old. After studying Philosophy, she moved to Valencia to obtain a master’s degree in Teaching, and then to Gran Canaria where she worked as a secondary school teacher. After returning to the mainland, she moved to Granada where she is presently completing a PhD in Migration Studies at the University of Granada. She made her debut as a fiction writer with Una oración sin Dios (A Prayer without God, Esdrújula Ediciones, 2023), a novel abounding in elements of her own biography, which challenges the imaginary constructed around migration and the Moroccan population in Catalonia. She also works on a regular basis with such media outlets as Ctxt and the channel Frontera abierta.
