Karel Zeman

Filmmaker

(3 November 1910 – 5 April 1989) was a Czech director and producer of animation films, considered jointly with Jiří Trnka as the father of Czechoslovakian animation. He was the creator of a highly recognizable style that combines real images with stop-motion animation, and has influenced filmmakers such as Jan Švankmajer, Terry Gilliam and Tim Burton.
