Julio César Guanche Zaldívar

With a degree in Law, he is an associate professor at the University of Havana. He is author of the book La imaginación contra la norma: ocho enfoques sobre la República de 1902 (Imagination against the Norm. Eight Approaches to the Republic of 1902 - published in 2004). In 2004 he received the Calendario (national essay) Prize for his book La condición cubana: tres ensayos sobre la República (The Cuban Condition. Three Essays on the Republic). In 2005 and 2006 he received special mentions for the International Essay Prize awarded by the review Temas. In 2006 he published, with Hilario Roseta Silva as co-author, El hombre en la cornisa (The Man on the Cornice). He has also published En el borde de todo. El hoy y el mañana de la revolución en Cuba (On the Edge of Everything. The Today and Tomorrow of the Revolution in Cuba - Ocean Sur, 2007). His writings have been published in Cuba, Mexico, Spain, Brazil, Argentina and the United States. He is adviser to the president of the Festival Internacional del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano de La Habana (International Festival of New Latin American Cinema, Havana).
