Joris Postema

Filmmaker

Director of Stop Filming Us, Joris Postema made his debut in 2013 with the documentary FC Rwanda, which travelled the world, from Côte d'Ivoire to Denmark, and from Canada to Italy. He has also made Vrienten & Vrienten in: Basmannen (2019) and Daan's Inheritance (2016). In his documentaries, he looks for stories hidden beneath the surface. His documentary Stop Filming Us questions whether a western filmmaker should try to show some of the truths about the Democratic Republic of the Congo or whether western “good intentions” only cause destruction and frustration. The result is therefore obligatory viewing for anyone who is working in humanitarian or development aid.
