Jokkoo Collective
Art collective
Jokkoo is a Barcelona-based artistic and musical collective that explores and promotes the most contemporary, forward-looking creations within the experimental and alternative scenes of the African continent, its diaspora and connected communities worldwide. Through its work, it builds connections and creates spaces that serve as platforms for dissident aesthetics and narratives.
The collective is made up of six distinct personalities with shared goals – Baba Sy, Maguette Dieng (Mbodj), Oscar Taylor (Opoku), Nicolas Beliot (Mooki6), Ismäel N’diaye (B4mba) and Miriam Camara (TNTC) and Victor Ruiz Colomer. These DJs and artists work both individually and collaboratively in areas including cultural management, music production, theatrical scores, dance, film, videography, 3D design, audiovisual performance and visual arts.
Jokkoo has its base and studio at FOC – an independent space managed in collaboration with the experimental art education collective Choro. Together, they run a constantly evolving cultural programme, transforming the space through architectural and scenographic interventions and ongoing experimental and interdisciplinary innovations.
