Jean-Claude Carrière
writer
Colombières-sur-Orb, September 17, 1931 – Paris, February 8, 2021
This French writer collaborated with Buñuel during the filmmaker's final period, as co-author of six scripts (between 1964 and 1977) and as writer of Mi último suspiro, a book of the memoirs of Buñuel, who had so often insisted that he didn't like to talk about himself or his cinema. It is to Carrière that the brief inventory of Buñuel's five obsessions is attributed: God, death, women, wine and dreams. This is the quotation that opens Baxter's biography on the filmmaker.
