Javier Martín

He is a journalist, correspondent and writer specialized in the Middle East and North Africa. He has a Master's degree in Journalism and International Cooperation (UCM), as well as an extensive career as a correspondent in the region, including Egypt, Israel and Iran, from where he covered the Iraq War (2003), the Arab-Israeli conflict, the so-called Arab Spring, the war in Syria and the migratory crisis in the Mediterranean Sea. He has collaborated with El País and El Mundo, and is currently bureau chief of the EFE agency in Libya, Tunisia and Algeria. He has won different awards such as the Julio Anguita International Journalism Award (2018) and the Cirio Rodríguez Award (2019). Javier Martin has published several books, including Estado Islámico. Geopolítica del caos (Catarata, 2017), La casa de Saüd (Catarata, 2013), Los hermanos musulmanes (Catarata, 2011) and Suníes y Chiíes, los dos brazos de Alá (Catarata, 2008).
