Jaume Bertranpetit

Professor of Biology at the Pompeu Fabra University of Barcelona (UPF) and founder of the Evolutionary Biology Unit in the Department of Experimental and Health Sciences at the UPF, his main area of research is study and understanding of the diversity of the human genome. He has published more than 200 scientific articles on the genome and is co-author of the book Viatge als orígens: una historia biològica dels humans (Journey to Origins: A Biological History of Humans – Bromera, 2000). He is an active member of several national and international scientific organisations, was director of the National Genotyping Centre (CeGen), and has been director of ICREA (Catalan Institute for Research and Advanced Studies) since 2007.
