Irma Vilà i Òdena

Irma Vilà i Òdena, a curator, researcher, and cultural producer, specialises in art and its convergences with science and technology. With a background in science and engineering, but inherently close to creative practice and inquiry in the domain of culture, she works with hybrid projects of research into curating, science, and digital culture which have been shown in festivals and museums around the world. She was deputy-director of ISEA2022 Barcelona, is curator of and advisor to NEO, the CosmoCaixa art, science, technology, and society programme, and has also been curator of the art and science programme of the first and second Barcelona Science Biennial. She was cofounder of the cultural innovation laboratory ZZZINC and is active in the Catalan creative network through her work with such collectives as Luthiers Drapaires and Telenoika. She has curated exhibitions and activities at the Laboratory Space of Arts Santa Mònica in Barcelona, the Espai BETA at the CCCB, the ArtFutura Festival, and elsewhere. She presently teaches in the undergraduate courses of Arts and Digital Creation and Design at the Open University of Catalonia and is a member of the DARTS research group. She has recently curated the Playmodes research exhibition “FORMS – Generative Visual Music” at the Lo Pati Centre for Contemporary Art (Amposta) and “Mirages: Nature and Visual Landscapes”, in La Façana at this centre.
