Irantzu Varela

A journalist and feminist, she has a degree in Communication Sciences (1998) and specialises in the areas of feminism, communication, and violence against women. She is creator and presenter of El Tornillo, a micro-space that is part of an interviews programme broadcast by Público TV. She works with the feminist digital newspaper Pikara Magazine and is known for her numerous videos on feminism, gender, equality, violence, sexual freedom, and other subjects. In 2022, she received the Rainbow Recognition Award from the Ministry of Equality for her lesbian visibility in the domain of communication, and her defence of trans rights.
