Green Gartside

The British newspaper The Guardian called him “the brainiest man in pop”, a label that this Welshman born in 1955 has earned with his troubled, strange and brilliant career. From the London squats where he started recording songs for his band Scritti Politti (a successful band in Great Britain in the eighties) to sophisticated production works with Miles Davis, Elvis Costello, Kylie Minogue and Tracey Thorn. From anti-cliché leftwing pamphlets to long deconstructivist conversations with his friend, philosopher Jacques Derrida. An oddball on the musical scene, as talented in his songs as in his reflections.
