Gilbert Shelton

Gilbert Shelton is a living comic-book legend and a leading author of the US underground comic with his friend Robert Crumb. The creator of The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers has a hilarious but sympathetic look at the hippy movement in which he grew as a person and an author. Shelton’s biography spans the grievances at the heart of the counterculture of the sixties and seventies and his peaceful retirement in France, via the journey from his native Houston to a vibrant San Francisco where he discovered drugs and rock and roll (designing album covers for groups like The Grateful Dead), a truly independent press and everything else that did a little to change the world and a lot to change his life.
