Flavia Company

She graduated in Hispanic Philology from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and has lived in Spain since 1973.

Flavia Company Navau is a bilingual writer (Catalan/Spanish), a journalist, translator, literary critic and culture manager. A graduate in Spanish Philology, she teaches at the the Escola d’Escriptura de l’Ateneu Barcelonès. She is a member of the Executive Committee of the Council of Culture at the Barcelona City Council. She writes essays, stories, poetic prose and novels. She has published, among others, the novels Llum de gel (1996), Ni tu, ni jo, ni ningú (Documenta Award 1997), Dame Placer (1999), Melalcor (2000), La mitad sombría (2006) and L’illa de l’ultima veritat (2010) and the short stories Viatges subterranis (1997) and Con la soga al cuello (2009). Her work has been translated into several languages. She has also published children’s stories. Together with other authors, she has translated Michael Cunningham, Linda Yablonsky, Luigi Malerba, Natalia Ginzburg, Italo Svevo, Robert Saladrigas and Vicenç Pagès,. She collaborates with newspapers (El País, Página 12) and she has directed and presented radio and television programmes.
