Eva Baltasar

A poet and writer

Eva Baltasar is one of the most recognized writers of the Catalan literary scene. She graduated in pedagogy at the University of Barcelona but writing has always been her main activity. She debuted with the collection of poems Laia (Columna, 2008) with which she won the Miquel de Palol Prize, followed by nine more collections of poems, all of them awarded, including Vida limitada (Món de Llibres, 2013), Animals d'hivern (Edicions 62, 2016) and Neutre (Bromera, 2017). Permagel (Club Editor and Penguin Random House, 2018), was her first novel, the first installment of a triptych in which the author explores in first person the universe of three different women, who live the contradictions of their time and which became one of the best-selling works in Catalan for Sant Jordi and with which she won the Llibreter Prize. Later on, Eva Baltasar wrote Boulder (Club Editor and Penguin Rando House, 2020), Omnium Prize 2020 for best novel. Her latest book is Mamut (Club Editor, 2022), the third installment of the trilogy with which she closes the triptych in which she explores the voice, life and body of three women.
