Esther Gratacós
Neuroscientist
Esther Gratacós studied medicine and biochemistry, and earned her PhD in neuroscience in 2010. For over 20 years she has lived surrounded by pipettes, molecules, neurons and graphics. She has combined this activity with teaching and scientific popularization, which have enabled her to convey her fascination with the functioning of the organism and admiration for cellular life and its mechanisms. She has participated in dissemination projects that relate neuroscience with art, such as NeuroART at the Neuroscience Institute of the University of Barcelona, and created her own, such as a participatory activity at the MACBA in the form of a workshop-guided tour of an exhibition that included Cajal’s drawings, and a training session for secondary school teachers that interrelated neuroscience and the visual arts (FCRI, Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation), among others.
