Carme Jordi

A lecturer in the Department of Astronomy and Meteorology at the University of Barcelona, she is a member of the Institute of Cosmos Sciences (ICC-UB), and of the Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia (IEEC). Her field of research is physical characterisation of stars and stellar cumuli based on observations from Earth and from space. She has participated in space missions like Hipparcos and Integral, and is presently working in the Gaia project of the European Space Agency (ESA). She is a member of the Gaia Science Team, the ESA scientific advisory body for this mission. For years now, she has been engaged in activities of popularising science for all kinds of audiences.
