Brenda Navarro

Brenda Navarro (Mexico City, 1982), studied Sociology and Feminist Economics at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and a master's degree in Gender, Women and Citizenship Studies at the Universitat de Barcelona. She has worked as a journalist and screenwriter. In 2020 she wrote her first novel Casas vacías (Sexto Piso), translated into nine languages and winner of the XVII Premio Tigre Juan. In 2022 she writes Ceniza en boca (Sexto Piso), her second novel recognized with the Cálamo Prize for "Book of the Year" 2022 and “Book of the year” Award in the Fiction category Annual Awards of Madrid Bookshop Awards 2022 and Todos tus libros in the Fiction category from CEGAL 2022. In her latest work she explores topics such as xenophobia, migration, systemic violence, precariousness or mental Health.
She is the founder of the #EnjambreLiterario project (2016-2020), a member of the Comité Organizador del Encuentro Escritoras y Cuidados and collaborator at El País, Pikara Magazine or La Marea.
