Bénédicte Kurzen

Photojournalist

A well-known French photojournalist with a degree in Contemporary History from the Sorbonne in Paris, she began her career in Israel and the Middle East where, as a freelance journalist, she covered the conflicts of the Gaza Strip, Iraq, and Lebanon, after which she has mainly reported on conflicts and socioeconomic change in Africa. Winner of a World Press Photo Award in 2019, she has also exhibited her work in Visa pour l'Image and is regularly published in The New York Times, Paris Match, The New Yorker, Le Monde Magazine and Newsweek. She has been a full member of the prestigious photographic agency NOOR since 2012. On several occasions she has worked with MSF documenting the drama of sexual violence.
