Ayse Akalin

A lecturer in Sociology and Gender Studies at the Istanbul Technical University, she has taken part in the Gezi Park protests, which led to the Taksim Square protests, in Istanbul. She has also worked as an activist in the Turkish Immigrant Solidarity Network. She has been researching migratory phenomena from the woman’s point of view, as well as issues concerning female domestic worker immigrants, border policing and globalisation.
