Atia Cortés
Atia Cortés is a computer engineer with a master’s degree and a doctorate in Artificial Intelligence from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. She currently works as a researcher in the Social Link Analytics Unit of the Life Sciences Department at Barcelona Supercomputing Center, where she also forms part of the executive board of the Bioinfo4Women programme. For over a decade she conducted research in the application of artificial intelligence in health and assistive technologies. In recent years she has focused on the study of the ethical, legal, socio-economic and cultural aspects of artificial intelligence in areas such as biomedicine and self-driving cars. Since 2022 she has been a member of the Spanish Bioethics Committee and the Ethics and Scientific Integrity Commission of the IMPaCT project.
