Antonio López Gay

A lecturer in the Department of Geography at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and researcher attached to the Centre for Demographic Studies (CED), he has a PhD in Demography (UAB) and a degree in Geography from the University of Barcelona. His research area is mainly concerned with socio-spatial transformation of urban areas and the impact of processes like gentrification and the phenomenon of tourism on the sociodemographic composition of the resident population. He also studies the role of residential mobility in the socio-spatial reshaping of urban areas, the interregional mobility of human capital, and the attraction of cities for highly skilled migrants and temporary populations. He worked for three years as researcher in the International IPUMS project of the University of Minnesota (USA), as well as being guest researcher at the Núcleo de Estudos de População (Population Studies Center) at the State University of Campinas (Brazil), and at the Population Research Centre of the University of Groningen (the Netherlands).
