Ángel Raya

He is an ICREA research professor and director of the Centre of Regenerative Medicine in Barcelona (CMRB). With a PhD in Medicine from the University of Valencia, he continued his postdoctoral training in several scientific disciplines, including electrophysiology, molecular biology, protein biochemistry, and developmental biology. The research presently being carried out by his group aims to understand the capacity of some animal species to regenerate tissue and organs and, in general, the mechanisms controlling cellular reprogramming. Advances made in these fields are opening up new possibilities for treating human illnesses using strategies of regenerative medicine. His writings on these questions have been published in the most prestigious scientific journals.
