Ana Coello

After graduating in Architecture from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, and obtaining a master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from the Harvard Graduate School of Design, Ana Coello has worked in several national and international architecture and landscaping studios, among them Agence Ter in Paris, Martha Schwartz & Partners in Boston (MA), and Peter Walker & Partners in San Francisco (CA). In 2007, she opened the firm Ana Coello Paisaje y Arquitectura (ACPA) in Barcelona, where she works on public projects of landscaping, urbanism, and architecture on a wide range of scales, including the Makovo Sustainable Neighbourhood Projects, a neighbourhood of 2,300 social housing units in Nairobi, for UN Habitat, and a new park in the Longquanyi district in Chengdu, China.

She has also completed and been engaged in private projects, landscape studies, numerous public medium- and large-scale landscape competitions, and has received several prizes and special mentions, for example with the Trinitarios Park in Pamplona, the strategic intervention plan for the restoration of the River Segura as it passes through Beniel, and the urban and landscaping conversion of the social housing neighbourhoods of Quinta da Mina and Cidade Sol in Barreiro, Portugal. With Agence Ter, she received first prize in the competition for the urban development of the Plaça de les Glòries Catalanes in Barcelona, and the 14th Manuel de Solà Morales Catalonia Prize for Urban Planning, for “Green Connections and Squares in the Eixample of the Barcelona Superblock”. 14th Catalonia Prize for Urban Planning Manuel de Solà Morales 2023 for Eixos Verds i Places a l'Eixample de Superilla Barcelona.
