Akosua Adoma Owusu

Filmmaker

She is a director who received her training in film, video and fine arts at the California Institute of the Arts. Born in the United States to Ghanaian parents, in 2013 her short film Kwaku Ananse was well-received at the Berlin Film Festival, and became the first co-production between Ghana, Mexico and the U.S.A. Her radical, poetic short film Dexciya was awarded Best Experimental Short Film at the 2011 Guanajuato International Film Festival. Currently, her experimental work is part of the permanent collection at the Whitney Museum in New York and the Fowler Museum at the University of California Los Angeles.
