Aisha Dabo

A Gambian-Senegalese journalist and member of Africtivistes, a pan-African blogger network of many cyberactivists aspiring to achieve peace, democracy, and human-rights-based development around the continent, she has worked as an editor, translator and journalist for the African Press Agency. In the professional domain, mainly in the field of digital journalism, she frequently writes about women’s and children’s rights and gender equality. As a member of Africtivistes, her aim has been to promote a platform that will assist activists around the continent who have difficulties developing their initiatives in their countries, in particular by helping them to get around the censorship and surveillance of non-democratic governments. For example, she has engaged in campaigns in support of bringing about political change in Gambia, has denounced specific cases of repression against activists, and has offered practical training in cybersecurity and defence mechanisms.
